What Happened Lucy?

Remember  the "I Love Lucy" show?

When I see the mess I am making getting ready for the November 2nd Upper Cumberland Craft Show & Sale and the holiday rush in my online shop, Sew Southern Quilts , all I can think of is Ricky Ricardo saying "What happened Lucy?"

I am not usually this unorganized and it is even driving me crazy. Okay, now where is the Santa hat, the mini quilt rack and the mug rug I was working on?????
Oh my gosh, where is my computer?

Good thing I have a guest room and no guest right now!

This sweet little Angel is a pattern from Joanna Walker, visit her blog at Mountain Laurel Crafts, thank you Joanna for creating such a cute tree ornie.

Checking my list; mug rugs, need to make more, gift bags with mason jars, mini quilts ....

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Ribbon

We received some devastating news last week. My Mother-in-law has cancer and a short time left with us. We will continue to love her and cherish her while we have her but somehow this cruel diagnosis allows us time to live, love, laugh and make more memories, we have time.

Thinking about the past week and all the emotions we as a family are experiencing, I began reading comments of other experiencing the same heartache. I came upon this writing from an individual on the internet and it sums up how I feel. Thank you Mike Mennonno.

The following is from Mike Mennonno, a freelance writer.  (website)

Strange as it may seem, as terrible as a prognosis of six months to a year is, it could be worse. Here's what I mean. When someone dies suddenly, without warning, you don't get to have one last trip to the ballpark with them. You don't get to sit and hold their hand and watch Jeopardy! and shout out the answers together. You don't get to tell them you love them, to hold them, to hear the stories they have to tell, to be with them through a momentous passage. To laugh and joke, weep, argue and fuss. To live.
Always remember: this moment is a gift.

Mini Clothesline Quilts

I finished 10 thread catchers this week and now I am working on 10 mini quilts. I'm trying a new strategy this holiday season. I am going to focus on a project until it is DONE!! Sometimes I think I have the attention span of a gnat. An idea comes to mind and I want to work on it and put aside what I'm working on. Then  searching through fabric I find awesome combinations and want to work with that. SO..No more fluttering around. Focus, Focus, Focus!! There are just so many fabrics and ideas in my head but not enough time to make them all!!
10 thread catchers DONE!!

I think sometimes just a finished project is so rewarding. Mini quilts are awesome in that respect . Making larger wall hangings and table runners can take 2 or even 3 days of cutting, piecing and quilting to make one quilt; but mini's can come together in a matter of hours. Some days I need the satisfaction of finishing a few projects in the same 2 or 3 days. Although I know I need to be working on larger projects, I need this now. I pulled some of my past patterns for wall hangings and decided to use them in a much smaller versions (6 x 6) or ( 7 x 7) mini quilts. It did mean  making smaller versions of the larger ones, but aren't they so cute?

Mr. is tending to family business so I decided I am going to try and make a clothesline quilt rack while he is tending to business. I did it!! Turned out pretty good too. Now to paint and make 4 more.
Okay, what will be my next project????? Hmmmm.... I have an awesome table runner I want to make, well, actually 3! See what I mean.......
